Guiding principles of Bahay Tuluyan

The guiding principles behind the work of Bahay Tuluyan are drawn from the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC)1.

Bahay Tuluyan is a child focused and child friendly organization. This means that at all times the organization will seek to:

* promote, fulfill, respect and protect all of the rights guaranteed to children under the UNCRC
* seek the maximum possible child participation at all levels and in all activities of the organization, including providing the support and training necessary to enable children to participate to their best ability
* take into account the best interest of the child in all decisions made in the organization

Bahay Tuluyan upholds the right to non-discrimination in all areas of its work. This means that all persons are to be treated without discrimination of any kind irrespective of race, color, sex, gender, language, religion, political opinion, nation, ethnic or social origin, property, disability, birth or other status. This right applies to all personnel, clientele, visitors and other people connected to Bahay Tuluyan and applies in all programs, services, dealings, activities and circumstances of Bahay Tuluyan.

Bahay Tuluyan seeks, in all its work, to promote, fulfill, respect and protect the rights of children to live a safe, happy and healthy life. The organization also adheres to the principle that the family is the fundamental group of society and the natural environment for the growth and well being of all its members and particularly children. In this spirit, all of the work of Bahay Tuluyan should always strive to empower children and to reintegrate them into their families or into the community wherever possible in cases where they have been removed from their own family or community.

Bahay Tuluyan is always striving to achieve the highest levels of professionalism and ethical standards in all areas of its work, particularly in handling its clientele. All personnel of Bahay Tuluyan are required to seek to act professionally and ethically in all their official dealings.
