Junior Environmental Educators program

Bahay Tuluyan

A child’s right to survival is intrinsically connected with the survival of the natural environment. Therefore in order to ensure the child’s survival it is critical that we all work to protect the environment. The Junior Environmental Educators Program seeks to develop a greater understanding in children about the environment, bio-diversity and conservation. The training that the children in this program undergo aims to cultivate in the children a sense of love and care for the natural environment. It also aims to deepen children’s understanding of the problems the environment faces and our role in curbing and resolving these problems. The children who have undergone training then plan ways in which they can educate their peers and the wider community about the environment and take concrete steps towards ensuring a more sustainable environment. As part of their advocacy work, the Junior Environmental Educators may, for example, participate in environmental campaigns such as the Clean up the World campaign or run sessions to educate about the need to reduce plastic bag use.
