Steve is 17 years old and from Malate, Manila. He came to live at Bahay Tuluyan with his younger brother because his family was experiencing problems caring for him and his eleven siblings. He decided that he wanted to go to school and help his family so he came to Bahay Tuluyan. At BT he has been involved in many programs including Junior Educators, Junior Health Workers and PILAK, a youth advocacy group. He is also a member of the BT Children’s Council.

Steve is now in first year high school. His dream is to be a social worker so he can help kids who are going through the things he has been through. Steve became involved in advocacy for children so that he can share his experiences and become a model and inspiration for other young people because he believes that as long as there is life, there is hope.

Mary Ann is 14 years old. She lives at Bahay Tuluyan with her younger sister because her family is not able to provide her with a safe home. Mary Ann is involved in many programs at Bahay Tuluyan, including Junior Educators and PILAK. She loves to dance. She is an officer on the Children’s Council and a leader for her fellow children.

Mary Ann is now in second year high school.
