First KidsView Conference a great success!

The first of the KidsView conferences was held today at Flemington Community Centre. The day was a great success with over forty students between year 9 and year 12 engaging in discussion on issues relating to poverty. Catherine Scerri ran the day and provoked discussion. Our Filipino guests, Mary and Pasencia, provoked the audience to further understand the issues regarding poverty with their acting and singing. The day closed with a 'Choose your own adventure story' entitled 'A day in the life of a street child'. This activity highlighted the multiple dangers and challenges of living on the street, as well as the limited choices in a street child's life.

This conference was also the launch of Bahay Tuluyan's 'A Home of Our Own Brick Challenge'. This campaign encourages people to donate a $20 "brick" to Bahay Tuluyan to help them build their new home. We thank Patty for being one of the first to purchase a brick.
