What can kids do?
Did you ever hear about poverty and wish that you could do something to help? Has anybody ever said to you ‘you can’t do anything, you’re just a kid’?
The children at Bahay Tuluyan show us that even if you are only a child and don’t have very much money, you can help change the world.
What can you do? Here are some ideas that some of the children at Bahay Tuluyan came up with:
- Plant a tree
- Donate your old clothes to charity
- Save your allowance for this week and give it to charity
- Organize a car wash to raise money for charity
- Join an advocacy campaign about children's rights
- Attend a seminar about children's rights
- Run a bike ride campaign for children's rights
- Save your money to buy some goods for donation
- Have a clean up drive in your community
- Write a letter to a child in another country
- Help to clean your school surroundings
- Study hard
- Make your own garden
- Help the victims of disasters
- Segregate your garbage
- Recycle your garbage
- Take special care of yourself
- Donate your old toys to charity
- Help with household chores
- Participate in sporting activities
- Join a children's organization
- Be a responsible student
- Conduct a seminar about children's rights
- Make posters about saving energy and display in your school
- Organize a drug information session in your school
- Tell other people about recycling
- Join a local community group
- Encourage other young people to study hard
- Research about another country and share with your friends
- Conduct training to children to develop their talents
- Tutor a younger student at your school
- Visit a lonely neighbor
- Have a cake stall and donate the proceeds to charity

- Hold a coin drive and donate proceeds to charity

- Give a stranger a smile
- Volunteer on a soup van
- Give your mum or dad a hug
- Give up candies for a week and donate money to charity
- Make somebody feel happy & important
