In January 2008
Bahay Tuluyan launched a report into the rescue of street children in
Manila.
This report highlights the problems faced by street
children who are rescued indiscriminately by government
authorities. The findings of the report are that rescue, as
currently practised in Manila, is involuntary, indiscriminate, forced
and ineffective. The research was done by a team of Australian
volunteers in cooperation with local staff and volunteers. Download the
report, "Indiscriminate
Rescue of Street Children in Manila" [pdf, 764kb].

Since the publication of the first report into the
situation of street children in Manila, Bahay Tuluyan has entered into
a partnership with UNICEF Manila to complete a research study into the
issue of rescue of street children in the cities of Pasay, Quezon and
Caloocan. This study is due to be launched in November 2008.
