Bahay Tuluyan's Independent Living Skills Program was created to address the difficulties children and young people face upon leaving residential care and becoming independent. It has since expanded to address the needs of community based out of school youth as well as those in residential shelters.
The goal of the program is to empower young people with comprehensive skills and knowledge to assist them to break out of the cycle of poverty and abuse and to live independently. The program is offered to children who are 15 years or older and includes various modules and activities relating to the following topics:
- Personality development
- Relationships and reproductive health
- Nutrition & wellbeing
- Home life skills & group home living
- Career preparedness
- Entrepreneurial skills
- Social responsibility.
